MPD226 Pads not assigned correctly

I am really close to just giving up my dream of wanting to produce music because of a ridiculous flaw that has no logical reason for happening.

When you spend over 200 bucks on a piece of equipment, you don't expect it to have finicky problems like pads not matching up and seemingly no reason behind it and absolutely no explanation of how to fix it.

The pads all match up correctly on an empty project, but when you load a template (like what you would normally want to do) the pads are not assigned correctly and some don't even trigger..

I have tried the "learn" etc, etc nothing works i have absolutely no idea why this is happening and its totally unacceptable. The people behind this blatantly flawed product and software should be held to task for this its totally ridiculous. Would appreciate if anyone can help me

Have you selected the MPC226 mapping template, VIEW > BROWSER > MIDI Learn Browser (SHIFT, CMD & L)? This should sort it, but I know this is a problematic area as the MIDI mapping on MPC drum kits is not consistent, with new kits being chromatic starting on C1, drumsynth chromatic starting on C-2 and older kits just weird, starting 37, 36, 42, 82. Not sure if the mapping template adjusts automatically, it doesn't with my MPK249.

Appreciate the help man! I have since had a moment to think of a way around and that is, to simply take a snapshot of the layouts for the templates and then assign them manually via the samples tab on an empty project.. Not ideal and a bit time consuming but at least its done the job!

By the way its a great product, its just very hard for a beginner to get into with obstacles like that. I have been trying to teach myself over a period of about a year or so and i had already reconfigured the pads via the device itself to match the empty project but every time i would load a template to mess around with it would randomize again.. It had really been doing my head in for a long time, only recently i actually figured out how to utilize the expansions and samples etc to see and load them haha one day i will get there

Try using chromatic C1 mapping, that might be the issue. Reason for that weird layout (pad A01 = C#1, A02 = C1, A03 = F#1 etc.) was Roger Linn wanting to assign MIDI notes to allow for proper finger drumming while maintaining the General MIDI drum mapping. This confuses the hell out of people and doesn‘t reflect most controller‘s standards, even with MPDs.
