Tempo / BPM going nuts and not able to set in song mode

Hi all

I am on latest MPC software version.
I have my sequences done, I went into song mode to arrange. All good...until
Then I tried to increase the tempo/ BPM of the song from 120 to 125 BPM.
Hit play - It made no difference. So I exported it all into new sequence at new BPM as indicated in the Song create pane...
Nope - still stuck at 120BPM!
I also am noting the transport BPM is all over the place. Sometimes it switches from SEQ mode to CLK.
I have an MAudio mini controller but have disabled midi clock so I've no idea what is wrong.
What I want to achieve is dead easy but it is driving me round the bend.

at least in standalone there is Sequence BPM and Global BPM. maybe start there?

You mean on hardware e. g. On the MPC one?
