Starting to play when using MPC Beats as a VST-dll

Hi there

I am a software developer and I am adding VST functionality to my app.

Now I am able to open the UI of MPC Beats VST.dll from my program, but the "Play"-Button is greyed out and I wonder how to start playback. Is there a particular MIDI-command that I need to send to the MPC Beats VST or how can I achieve to start playback?

Although I am not as tech-savvy as you apparently are, this is handled by the host application.

Yes sure, the app I am working on would be the host app in this case.

And the app somehow needs to communicate with the vst, you know what I'm saying? My guess so far is that it requires a MIDI command...

In that case I‘d go for MMC PLAY:

What I have found is to send a MIDI-message with status byte 250. But that won't work I tried that.
The message gets successfully sent but it has no effect on playback. There must be something else.
