How sustain pedal works during recording?

For the sake of me I tried to understand how to use an external midi keyboard with the sustain button (not pedal, so it's only on/off), but I didn't completely understand.

I'm using an MPC One+ with MPC 3.x software, but the same happens to the MPC beats 2.x.
The keyboard is a M-Audio Keystation mini32 MK3

When I want to record some midi inputs with sustain ON, I hear it with sustain correctly. But the recording is not recording the sustain automation, leaving it to zero. I have to manually set the automation after the recording. Is that intended?

The sustain button of the keyboard is recorded in the automation only when it's pressed during the recording, not before, but it is extremely difficult to make it register at the very beginning of the recording section.

What is the best way to correctly record a sustain automation in order to make it start from the beginning of the record?

I also noticed that switching the Sustain on/off from the keyboard will affect also playing notes even if I'm not in record mode, so it override temporarily any automation currently for sustain, forcing me to restart the play in order to avoid hearing messed sustain. Is there a way to switch to a mode when sustain from input does not affect current playing automation?

The sustain CC pressed during the count-in is recorded at the beginning of the sequence. Depending on the timing of the pedal-off, the sustain OFF CC might be recorded near the beginning of the loop. Check the CC64 automation in the grid view.
