There appears to be no way in the MPC desktop software to instantiate or edit individual key group insert effects. This is a powerful feature in the Legacy mode, sadly lost in the 'Advanced' mode, but worse, there is no way in the software (unless I'm missing something) to edit individual key group inserts.
it IS possible if you connect an MPC hardware unit to remote it - the UI on the hardware allows the editing, but there is NO WAY to do it without MPC hardware connected - very strange it's just not there.
Rant about 'Advanced' mode for key groups and the reduction in many of the features that made MPC synth engine really good:
There are some good things about the new Advanced oscillator mode, but they unfortunately remove a lot of good features compared to Legacy mode, such as have an individual filter per key group. in the "Advanced' mode, you get one pair of filters, and one TVA, pitch envelope (and some other things) PER PATCH, that in the Legacy mode are PER KEYGROUP, which is a real shame as there's a lot of power in the per-key group approach that is completely lost in the 'Advanced' mode. Most Roland stuff even since the D50 could support 4 partials, each with Its own filter, pitch and amp EG. Legacy MPC could do a lot more by using the many key groups. Advanced now means only one Roland 'Partial' per patch!
And, while it's great that legacy mode now support the new wavetables, there appears to be NO WAY IN LEGACY MODE TO MODULATE THE WAVETABLE - which makes wavetables essentially pointless in legacy mode.
In Advanced mode, there's much more flexilibity for modulation, but there are not enough envelope generators to even close to make up for the loss of the PER KEYGROUP approach - maybe with another 10+ aux envelopes (instead of 4) , I could be more forgiving.
I get that the Advanced mode does off a lot of improvements, but the loss of the per-key group approach is a very significant backward step.
What would be IDEAL is to have multiple Advanced mode 'partials' in a patch - at least 4 - each with their own insert effects. With this, the MPC synth engine would then rival the Roland Zencore.
I would also like to see 2D wavetables please! MPC has lots of ram.
