I'm aware that the latter isn't too great but I hastily bought it when I got the MPC.

I figure it'll still work okay though?

The Numark M2 is perfectly fine as scratch mixer. I'm not into the space ship mixers with thousands of buttons. EQ, Volume, Crossfader, Crossfader slope, and Cross fader switch. The only thing I suggest with the M2 is change the fader with innofader Pro 2.

I see. I will keep the fader thing in mind but it doesn't seem like something I have to do right away. Thanks for the info.

Turntablist use the crossfader 97% of the time, so if you want your cuts to be clean and sharp. Look into as soon as possible. The M2 put in the cheapest crossfader they could find and they will go out fast. (3 months) It's like being a butcher who jobs is to cut meat.

But instead of having the best cutlery, the butcher is using a butter knife. Fader technology has vastly changed and many of the more advance scratches can't be done using cheap crossfader.

The main thing for scratching is a good motor driven turntable solid platter and with a decent needle and your mixer with a solid crossfader. If you have a decent needle, I suggest to swap the crossfader. I'm about to buy one of those M2 mixer and use this spare innofader I have in it.

This post was mostly meant to find out if the blue Concorde is a good idea in my situation.

Is there a reason you're getting the same numark instead of getting a used Vestax with more inputs, and better eq or something for the same price and replacing that fader?

The M2 is bone dry basic of mixer and when I swap the cross fader with innofader that I have. It will be great for a single table scratch rig. As long as the EQ cut and boost, I won't have any issues.

The Blue Concorde will work, but the benefits are bleak when the crossfader is not good. The action is not smooth, the sound bleeds or eventually will, Soft and Noisy cutoff, very low life expectancy.

Do you think accapellas from maxi singles are good to practice on when starting out or should I try to find some scratch records? Though that's definitely easier said than done.

Accapellas are fine to practice on .There are also a ton of scratch and specialist DJ records you can easily pick up dude...look out for stuff like the Dirstyle series of albums on Discogs or Ebay, they're absolutely rammed full of sounds, tones, drumbreaks and vocal phrases you can cut with.

Yeah, I'm aware that those exist. I'm not gonna find anything like that at a record store though and I stay away from ordering records online. I'll have to stick with accapellas to start.

Yo there Saltmcgault.
Thanks for the welcome, I'm looking to get myself an MPC over the next couple of months so thought I'd better get my ass over here and join the club!

Hope you're doing good my dude.

I'll have a look through my records for you Scrawny ( they're in storage at the moment at my parents place ) and see if I've got any spares..im pretty sure there was a couple of Dirstyle albums I've got doubles of kicking around that I dont really need any longer as I only have one turntable nowadays but it's the Technics SL-1200 Gold Limited Edition version and theres absolutely zero chance of that deck ever being used for scratching on in a million years.

Depending on your location and if you're happy to pay for postage I could send you one of them if you wanted it no problem.

Which gold editions do you have Technics SL1200M5G or Technics SL1200LTD?
