In the UK the 2500's launch RRP was £1200, the MPC1000 was around £600 (possibly £699), initial street prices were initially around £1000 and £550 respectively. Both those units were released with lots of bugs and missing features, so it looks like 12 years on Akai still haven't changed the core business model

Can't wait to get the MPC Y for 5k, it's going to be such a bargain!

I wouldn't be surprised if the MPC X and Live are discontinued pretty soon.......so that they can concentrate on the flagship MPC Eclipse.....

Yes, we do.
- Super fast chopping
- Sequencer is tight (after one week heavy testing)
- standalone means (no audiocables, midicables, separate devices, separate power units) just click on and start playing...
- workflow: sample, chop, play, record, export, drag & drop... boom all is cubase ready to mix it finally
- no more hours of waiting for loading samples and projects
- and all of this with the main thing, that makes the MPC so nice to me: THE COOL PADS, PADS AND PADS... simple enjoy playing them

BUGS... Yes a lot, but at the moment not any that concerns me or stops my workflow... and... its a BETA... i am interested to see, if AKAI finally learned, how to deal with a community and how to do good/stable update-cycles... still worth every cent to me for now .-)

I'm still torn on the X, I do think it cost too much for essentially being a physically beefier Live, but the market will dictate pricing, if the value isn't there, people will end just just getting the live, letting the X rot. After several weeks with the Live, I would LOVE to have a more portable version of the X as opposed to the Live, an adjustable screen to fight lighting glare? OLED screens to let me know (an admittedly rookie with MPCs, I had a 1000 a decade ago and barely used it) what the Q-Links actually are doing? Man that would be dope. Instead we get the cheaper than that but fully functional Live and closer to what I want, but without battery - X. Just got to let time sort them out. With the sales they are getting on the Live, it wouldn't shock me for us to get new hardware/refresh in a couple years.

I hope so. The Eclipse is the only Nukai MPC I am interested in.
