Recording with a midi controller

Hi everyone! I'm new here!

A brief question: I know you can connect a midi controller directly to the MPC live. So, is it possible to record some midi notes into the MPC sequencer with the midi controller using some VSTs? How will be the connections? Because the VSTs are in the laptop and you have to connect it to the midi controller via USB, but this one is to the MPC.

Any tips?

VST's are not supported in standalone mode.. you can record midi notes using the midi controller.. but if you want to hear sounds that are not on the MPC you need to be in controller mode using the 2.0 software..

So what's? In that way any DAW is better...
