Your workflow to build full song vs limited song mode

Hi guys,

What's your workflow to build an entire song staying as long as you can in the MPC while dealing with the limited song mode?

Does some of you really make an entire tune from start to finish minus the mix/master, or do you stop before and do the arrangement in your DAW?

And if so, in controler mode with the mpc software in your DAW, how do you deal with adding new ideas over an existing structured track in the work? Does the mpc software follow the DAW timeline or something?

My work flow doesn't involve song mode on the new MPC Live.

I will make the drums in a 4 bar loop bounce the stems out and drag and drop the drums into Reason. Then lay the sounds on top of it and arrange in my DAW.

If l do music in the software l do the same add drums then bounce all the stems out and put them in my favorite DAW.

Why is song mode limited?

I don't see any limitations in the MPC X. I use it mainly for its sequencer. I have a 56 track SSD recorder (hardware) that i will record vocals on and if I am using an outboard drum machine and/or one of my hardware synths, I use midi to play back the sequencer data back to them. All tracked through an analog 48 input desk.

When using the X for samples and tracks, again no limitations because the same pls dont take up a lot of memory or use too much CPU (I dont use much if any efx off the X).

I build a 4 or 8 bar sequence. Form that i make variations. Then ill add some synths to taste should I need it.
