So I’m maxing out the memory already on one simple project and getting frustrated because when I purge samples it’s still saying I’ve almost used up all memory. When Im recording a big audio track it starts bugging and glitching because it’s struggling.

I have a few drum kits I play on track 1.

Then on audio tracks I’ve done a few 30 second stereo recordings. I’ve done multiple takes but only kept a few in the project, the bad takes I delete but they still store to the project folder and I feel like even though I purge the project it’s still maxing out because those deleted takes are staying in the project folder? Isn’t this thing supposed to have way more memory?

When I click the folder icon in the main window I can see that I’m in fact deleting the outtakes from RAM but why does my machine say it’s full when there are only about 5 minutes of recorded audio in the project.

I’m getting really frustrated, do I need to manually delete every single outtake of audio from the project folder? Seems totally depressing to have to do that...

Any help would be much appreciated

you have the ability to "undo" things and that takes up memory.

That's why I take my music to the computer once I am done. Now for the X, Akai gotta bring it, cause that's a hellava machine especially if people wanna stay on the machine and not go to a computer. Once Akai get that there, that machine is going to be bananas!

What’s taking so long it’s been over a year since it’s been in beta testing..
Lack of disk streaming and crossfade loop really pisses me off.

You folks are right to continue to bring pressure on Akai to introduce disk streaming, so definitely keep that up. Make sure they know it is a central issue.

Now, on Akai's side, disk streaming is a big task to really get right. I would suspect that the current software architecture does not lend itself to disk streaming, and that it will be a major overhaul to fix that. If the hardware couldn't support disk streaming, I would think they would have said that in response to customer requests, so I guess that isn't an issue.

If Akai doesn't get it right when they introduce it to customers, it will be a real mess for everybody concerned. So I think it will take them time to come up with a workable solution.

Thanks for the replies!

The only work around I’ve found to minimize projects in stand alone mode is purge samples and the save it as a new project. Which totally sucks! But seems to be working, I guess if you’re doing lots of long throw away takes its best to purge and save/rename project. I even found that on an akai support page

I can’t even figure out how to delete a sample in a project data folder while in stand alone mode

If I wanted to use a computer I would just multitrack my mpc-3000, 60 or 2500 :Sigh: then do overdubs with my instruments. so I need this $2000 machine to work damn it

I’ve been following these new MPC’s closely since their release. I’ve always preferred stand alone machines.
I started on Cubase, then purchased an Akai DPS24, the best machine I’ve ever worked on. Eventually the machine went down (purchased used) so I’ve been looking
For another machine, stand alone with actual buttons, knobs, scroll wheel, etc. So I got pumped about the MPCX.
Even with only 8 stereo audio tracks in standalone, I saw the X as a move to simplicity with new sampling features and looping functions I could use to reinvent some of the music I make.
All in ONE unit. STOKED!
I’ve almost hit “BUY” on Sweetwaters’s page a few times, but have been holding out.
I simply MUST have the ability to track audio on the X in standalone with no glitches. That’s my basic workflow. Don’t need computers or plugins.
If this gets resolved, then maybe I’ll pull the trigger. I mean, it’s a $2200 machine, it needs to WORK.

Until then, I’ve been eyeing OCtatrack MK2 as a different direction for now. Maybe even one of the new Pioneer samplers .

I mention this here on this forum because I want the X to perform what it claims it can without any hitches, so maybe Akai will listen and get things worked out.
Until is start hearing rave reviews I’m holding off though.

Honestly,it works fine for tracking audio. It only does weird glitches when I’m reaching the max memory. My mpc2500 does the same glitching when I’m closing to maxing it’s 128mb memory. I have used the mpc2500 the same way with “audio tracks” that I just place with a single Midi note in a program on beat 1.

I hate the sound of all the elektron gear, mpc x is a beast and sounds great. Like a mix of a DAW but with mpc timing
