Hi All,

Sorry for the long description, I was trying to be clear. I'm hoping someone has a solution since this seems like a common use case.

I have external MIDI devices (for this example I'll use the Kurzweil Forte) and I would like to create Programs that select the built in sounds of those external modules. ie. Click on Programs and select the name of one of the external programs.

I typically only have one module connected to each MIDI Port so it would be nice if I could associate a group of Programs with a particular MIDI Port. ie. Kurzweil Forte programs with MIDI Port 1, and Roland INTEGRA-7 on Port 2

That way if I select MIDI Port 1, only the programs with MIDI Port 1 show in the list. Select MIDI Port 2, and only Programs with MIDI Port 2 show up.

The MPC appears to associate the "five additional settings to configure for a MIDI program: the MIDI Port, program change message (Program Ch), MIDI channel (MIDI Ch), Most Significant Byte (Bank MSB), and Least Significant Byte (Bank LSB)" with the Track and not the Program.

For example - if I create a program named "Rich 9ft Grand" and set the MIDI Port to 1, Program Channel to 1, and the Bank LSB to 0, this would correctly select the Kurzweil Program.

If I then create a second program "Rich 7ft Grand" and set the MIDI Port to 1, Program Channel to 2, and the Bank LSB to 0, this would then correctly select the Kurzweil Program.

So to the issue... when I create a new track, and select the Program "Rich 9ft Grand" only the name of the program changes, not the MIDI Port, Program Channel or Bank MSB/LSB.

Also when I save the Program and reload it, the MIDI Port, Program Channel, Bank MSB/LSB don't appear to be load with it.

Of course, the MIDI channel WILL change between projects, however the MIDI Port, Program Name, Bank LSB/MSB will always remain the same.

Ideally it would be nice to let he MPC "know" I have a Kurzweil Forte connected to MIDI Port 1, and load the appropriate Programs to match. Then create a new Track, select the MIDI Port, select a program from the list of programs associated with that Port, then select the MIDI Channel and record.

Apart from having to recreate the Programs with each Project to match the set of sounds used in that Project, if there another way of achieving this?

Are there others with this kind of setup?

Thanks for your time if you got this far.

Cheers,

Jupiter

I guess I'll reply to myself :)

Is there anyone else using external sound modules with their MPC?

Are you recreating Programs with each Project to match the sounds you're using with those modules?

Just wanted to see how many people have a similar setup.

Cheers,
