HELP! All data lost (folders; projects; factory content;...)

I can't prove it, but I'd find that hard to believe. That'd be a company suicide when the drives start to go. None of the Nukai MPCs boot from an internal drive.

I don't believe there is an actual separate drive anywhere in the MPC Live other than the ones the user attaches themselves (USB, SATA, SD). All the main action occurs on that one board. The board might even have a separate storage chip reserved specifically for the firmware, but regardless, there is no physical drive to replace, it's a chip on the board - if the drive/chip goes, the whole core board would need to be replaced. Seems identical to how a smartphone is constructed.

I don't really see how that's any different to a legacy MPC - those MPCs booted from a 'chip' on the main board. If that chip became corrupted, a new main board would be needed.

But that type of storage is pretty robust, I'd be inclined to believe the cases of disappearing user data is more likely a software issue similar to the way a drive can be corrupted on a Mac by not ejecting it properly. Layman guesses though, I'm no expert on these things.

I know, 4GB RAM is a very different proposition, but I think it tells you a lot about the planned life span of these products.

For starters this is not an offical Akai site. You should go to their site and to support. Let them know the issue.

As for the Akai content you can go to your account and download the Vault and any other content that you need.

As far as your tracks you made, probably gone forever, unless you get a computer forensic specialist to see if they can salvage your deleted files.

I never save any tracks on the Live, l immediately bounce into stems and take ii to my main computer and make copies.

Well, in that case I'd find it hard to belive that the OP has actually lost his data. The only thing that might cause that is powering down the machine while saving. Otherwise, I'd find it hard to belive data just disappears like that from non-physical drives.

Whatever you do op, stop using it and get it swapped out. It’s just going to keep happening.

you can bounce out each track to a stem for use in other products (Daws, etc,)

But l did lose a hard drive dude to putting it on a new eSata drive which stsrted a formtting process. Si when l went to go into my sound files a Reason projects nothing will come up.

From my understanding this product can retrieve formatted drives and pick up various files. Im worrired about retrieving my Reason files. Will it tetrieve the Reason files. I talked to a company that can rebuild my hard drive but l know it will cost anywhere from $500 - $1,000 dollars.
