Dear MPC Live users!

I'm considering to buy an aftermarket mpc live. Could You please explain what must be tested and checked before buying?

I'm on MPC 1000 for a few years, it's clear for me what to do if buy this machine: just hardware (pads, buttons, knobs, all inputs and outputs, midi) and firmware version (if JJ OS - check that project can be saved).

But.. MPC Live/X is next gen, much more complicated with its standalone/controller modes, licences etc. Moreover, I haven't found any test mode in its user manual..

So... What to check and to test before buying an aftermarket MPC Live?

Many thanks in advance for Your help!

Make sure the factory content is installed. Everything else is common sense stuff, power button screen , responsiveness, volume knob no crackles, all the buttons working etc ...

On the physical side make sure the corners aren’t bent/dented. The Live isn’t as heavy as the 1000.

You can see if the seller will transfer the license to you, but Akai has been really good at letting users re register used serials. They aren’t any horror stories like Maschine users that were scammed out of their money from second hand controllers.

You can also ask about any internal hard drives
