Mpc x shorting out .

When I pressed a pad the other night it it made my mpc x short and I was deafened by high pitch squeals and loud clicks. I turned it off and on again several times and it did the same thing. I've never had an issue with this thing. It's almost a year to the day of purchase. Then today i turned it on and it worked fine. It's crazy but I'm still under warranty. Akai has already been contacted. I just wanted to know if anyone has experienced this problem and if so how was the warranty service? I'm scared as **** to send my MPC in the mail.
