Support and discussion for all of Akai’s modern standalone MPCs including the MPC X / X SE, MPC Live 1, 2 & 3, MPC One / One+, MPC Key 37/61.
When I'm working in prog edit to find the correct pitch of a sample, I wish I was able to play a piano (or other instrument) with my keyboard. It would make it much easier to find the pitch and base note. Is it possible?
My keyboard controller is USB, if that makes any difference.

No, your keyboard will always play the currently selected program on the currently selected track.
The MPC can only play multiple MIDI sources via pre-recorded tracks, so one workaround would be to configure a different track to play back your keyboard and record some MIDI notes to this. Then hit PLAY and let this sequence continue looping while you select a different track (one that contains the program you wish to edit). You can then use the looping sequence to perform your pitch tuning.
Or just use a guitar tuner app on your phone.
