Mc101 as Mpc companion?

No experience with that particular piece. However it does seem to be redundant, when the MPC LIVE/X can already do what the MC 101 can. Also for the price, you could save alittle more money, buy a second MPC live and load it with loops and sounds. Then use your other MPC LIVE for Drums. Sync them together, now you have 10 outs, 16 audio tracks, 32 full size pads, effects, looper, sound module, etc.

No man, I really don't think Mpc can have the synth sounds and effects of a Roland gear.
Mpc beats Mc in many ways, but not as a synth module. Air synths have very limited poliphony and you can say all, but Roland is at another level for that.
Also there is nothing like Mc scatter on Mpc, the most similar tool can be XY but it just doesn't sound good and it's uncomfortable to use when playing live.

That makes sense. It's just to bad the machine, can't process external sounds with it's effects. Is it the same scatter effect that the Roland Aira Scooper uses?

I think it has audio through usb, but I think Mpc doesn't send audio through usb so maybe no possible.
Scatter is an improvement of Aira one, from the videos it looks really interesting.
People complain about the price.
I see they sell it for 420 euro now.
I think it's a quite good price, given you have 3000 synth sounds, more then 90 boss effects, scatter, looper tracks and more.
A used one for 350 should take you to the right price in my opinion

Yeah but actually what's wrong with old sounds recycled?
We are talking about synths people still use and pay huge money for 2nd hand synths like Juno or Jupiter or Tr808 and so on.
The good side of it is that you have a sort of Roland archive in a very small portable box.
It's a compromise of course, editing is limited but still you have adsr and filters control on all of them.
And Scatter is fully editable, I am reading now you can customize 16 different scatter behaviour on 16 pads.
That is really cool.
I will wait for Namm if something comes out from other brands, Akai included.

I am all into portability for I have to travel and all must fit in a 17" bag, I already have Mpc Live, a small line mixer, some Boss effects and a lpk25 keyboard and cables.
But you are definitely right, having line inputs makes a lot of sense on a gear like that.
Oh mine, now I am confused ahah.

Hold tight and see what is announced. If you see nothing, go after the mc 101 because it checks the boxes you need. But fear not, roland will repackage those sounds again.

How many times can they get us to pay for the same sound?

I was just offering food for thought. I could think of a bunch of gear in that range that I would personally think would offer more bang for the buck. Not trying to throw hate on the 101, I haven’t used one. If I really wanted it, I would just make keygroups with it and pass it along like I had done with the other rolands I had.

But yea wait for namm.

Yeah thanks so much for your suggestions.
But actually I need synth sounds (and electric pianos), a phrase looper and good effects all in a box to save space because now I track out Air synths from Mpc to a Kaosspad, an MD500 and a RV500.
My idea was to replace all this with just a small box.
And I really think that the scatter is exactly something I want to try.
But yeah, let's wait Namm, there are rumours it will be an important one.
Maybe also Akai surprises everyone with some new magic gear.
