MPC Live Incorporated with Synthesizer (Hardware Setup)

Hi all, I recently got a MPC Live and am unsure what the best approach would be to set up a basic home recording studio. I've currently been using Logic X to record from my Fantom X but now want to incorporate the MPC Live but not sure what the most efficient setup would be. I've been hearing different suggestions from audio interfaces to audio mixers to MIDI extenders and since I'm new to all this, was hoping to hear what you all think. Any advice/suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It depend what you want to do. Do you want still use Logic and add the MPC? Or do you want to use the MPC as your DAW? Do you want sequence your Fantom from the MPC or you just want record audio?

Alot of how/what you do depends on how you use the gear.. When you say you were recording your Fantom into Logic, were you using the Fantom's sequencer or does Logic control everything and tell it what to play?

I went from an all DAW/Logic setup to one based on the Live and its easy as hell. I do all my writing with the Live and all my samplers/synths. I press play on the Live to hear my songs now not my DAW. The Live isn't exactly cut out for full fledged mixing, so Logic is my tape machine now instead of my sequencer. When Im ready to track stuff, I just sync the MPC to MIDI Clock from Logic and record 2-3 passes to get everything in and I mix down and bounce there and its done. You can use the whole MPC ecosystem inside Logic by using it as a plugin and putting the Live into controller mode but the software isn't exactly the most stable or efficient so I just use it like you would've an MPC60/2000/3000/4000/etc 'back in the day'. Once its a little more mature I can see myself going back and forth and actually incorporating Logic and software synths again. I do miss my Absynth and Eventide and Sound Toys plugins heh.
