MPC One- can’t view connected hard drive in Controller Mode

With my MPC One, for some reason, I am not able to view the connected USB hard drive, nor SD card, when in Controller mode. In this mode, I am only able to see the various hard drives connected to my Mac Mini.

However in Standalone mode I can view the connected drives fine.

I noticed on some forums that other people had experienced this as well, but nobody seemed to have a solution.

Is this a bug, or supposed to be like this?

If it’s supposed to be like this, its pretty stupid, as I save my projects on the connected drive, and want to open these up when in Controller mode, but obviously can’t, if I can’t even view the damn drive.

It looks like something, they missed, because it makes no sense, that someone can't see the attached storage. Let's hope they correct it.

Don't think it's a bug as the manual says that the USB connection is solely for midi/audio, while the live/X section specifically mentions connecting to the attached disks.

My guess is they will updated it, once more people's MPC One's start showing up. It makes little sense to have a machine, that functions as a controller, but the user can't see the SD Card or USB Storage device connected to it.

Except when you get marketing segmentation involved and need distinct feature sets per product.

This is what the ONE doesn't have, compared to the MPC Live. (List Below) I would think these thing would show a clear separation of the next model up. Not something like, we can't view the SD card in controller mode. What's next, watch this ad before you can make the next beat.

Oddly, my Live2 was able to see the internal drive in controller mode but suddenly cannot. Recently, I have been playing around with VST3 plugins using Blue Cat Audio Patchworks. That's the only change I made.

Update...actually I made another change that seems relevant. I connected the MPC to the computer via a USB hub. Previously, I had connected it directly to the computer. When I again connected the MPC directly the internal drive was fully accessible in controller mode.

Are you talking about the optional internal SATA disk that can be installed? That should always show in controller mode as it's just seen as another attached drive like USB and SD card. The factory internal drive never shows, it's completely blocked off from any kind of external access.

Yes - the optional internal SATA drive was not showing up in controller mode when I connected the MPC via USB hub to the computer. It reappeared when I connected the MPC directly to the computer.

I've noticed OS X act a little funny with attached drives from the MPC... and sometimes not show the USB drive or SD card when mounting my Live, but directly connected they show up fine. I suspect that there's something goofy and the drive needs a repair or something... but haven't quite put my finger on it yet.

The MPC itself shows up as a big hub of sorts to a Mac when you connect it. Look at it in System Profiler on the USB page. Its two USB hubs (each port) plus a USB audio and midi interface. You internal hard drive shows up as a USB drive connected to a hub, as do any of the MIDI gear you have plugged into it over USB. Although mine for whatever reason only sees the first 4 ports of the hub I have connected to it.
