Connecting iPad & Ext MIDI controllers to MPC Live...

Hi,

Firstly:

I'm aware that there's a way to connect my MPC Live to an iPad via the Apple Camera Connection Kit and a USB MIDI Interface such as an M-Audio Uno or similar.

I was wondering though... is that the only way? Is there not some kind of app I can install on the iPad which will act as a virtual MIDI Interface and allow me to connect the MPC directly via the USB/Lighting cable? I've heard of Audiobus, but not sure if it will do this.

Secondly:

Is it possible to map parameters within the MPC's internal plugins (TubeSynth etc.) to external USB MIDI controllers such as the Novation LaunchControl, or am I limited to only being able to use the Q-Link knobs to adjust things like Cutoff / Resonance etc...

Thanks mate. Have you tried the Yamaha Bluetooth Midi MD-BT01? Looks like it might be a good wireless solution for MPC / iPad?

Why would you use one of those when both ipad and mpc have bluetooth midi built in? Really just asking, maybe I missed something.

I use the korg BT app on ipad. Ble-midi I think.

My old APC40 only has USB connections b/c it was meant to connect to a laptop. Does that mean it will not work with the MPC via USB ?

The apc should work, I believe they even have a template for it or you have to midi map it and save your own template. My mk2 powered up and had random midi assignments almost 4 years ago but there was no way to map it at the time. One of the updates brought midi learn and the templates.
There should be no issue with this but I haven’t tried since the midi mapping and learn functions were added. One usb cable is all that is needed.
