Hey gurus,

When you record automation on the MPC, such as program mutes and volume changes, it seems to record tonite own timeline that is linear and without loops. For example, if you have an 8 bar beat and record automation over two minutes, it seems that the automation plays back over linear time without repeats, even if the loop is only 20 seconds long.

On the other hand, track mute events seem to be handled differently to automation and are recorded as events on the track, and so will loop. This seems different to the rest of the automation system.

Does anyone know why these two types of automations are treated differently? Where are automation events stored? Are they part of the program, track or sequence?

I checked tha manual but there doesn’t seem to be much coverage of this topic.

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure recording automation is in line with whatever it is for the timing. So if you go off and record 20 minutes of automation over a 4 bar loop, you're just over writing whatever your automation was multiple times, unless you're doing something different than what I believe you've described.
