Just wondering how many people are mastering within the mpc now.
I know the mixer isnt very good inside the box but the fact you can use a Limiter now has opened up some doors for some.

I was curious on what preset you guys enjoyed or how you've gotten some decent results with it if you have.

I started a started up an "all in the box" album of beats and just curious about this. Previously I've been dropping into my daw like most people. On this project I thought I'd go back to the basics so-to-speak

I never thought about mastering on Mpc.
I used the limiter today to tame a sample with heavy peak and worked very fine.
I would try a mastering if there was also a multiband compressor.
But anyway computer is better for that, with good mastering plugins.

You can always try my custom Multi-band for the MPC/Force..
Many happy users out there with it

Been working to follow up on the new 2.10 firmware update which adds the new limiter and rack saving..

Honestly, your effects presets setups are pretty awesome, but I would never - EVER - try mastering on my MPC Live 2 (or Force for that matter). Not when I have iZotope Advanced 9 and Neutron Advanced 3, which to be frank - has no equal or something even remotely close on the MPC/Force. Mastering inside your DAW of choice will just be the best option, IMHO.

I can only agree that these tools you’re using has no equal and DAW mastering is a much more complete solution than mastering inside the MPC..So many choices and tools to choose from for every flavour (not to mention the visual feedback you get from audio analysers).
But hey, i just wanted to give people an option to mix properly inside their beloved MPC with some decent results..I also give many great tips inside the manual on how someone can approach mixing/mastering in a real-time manner which is a very different and powerful technique IMHO as you can hear the results instantly as you tweak the mix!And all of that can be applied in everyone’s DAW of choice

i have actually mixed a lot of tracks (some of them released) on my mpc live mk1, and a couple of them were also mastered in it.
one trick i sometimes used was to use air transient instead of air maximizer (air limiter wasn't released yet), even with attack and sustain at 0, just to use its internal limiter\softclipper to have a ceiling and add some heavy compression with the gain knob.
i'm gonna test this new air limiter in the near future, but for now it seems less "invasive" than the air maximizer which i never really loved...

I'm not trying to the best at mastering. Ive worked hard mastering glitch-hop, dnb and trap stuff before. I'm literatly at times, just making breaks so I can beat-juggle them on the turntables. So sometimes its mad minimal. I wouldnt do anything crazy technical in the mpc I dont think, but some simple beats I'd say why not. Everyone keeps getting a higher and higher standard as the years go on, the technology gets better, but I like older dirty not even eq'd well hiphop. I already know the quality coming out of the new mpc's is better than the shit I listened to 17/18 years ago.

Like I said. If I was actually writing music, than I would use my DAW 100% but as someone who sometimes just makes quick breaks with alittle bass, or a minimal lofi beat here and there, I feel like the limiter is of ok quality. I use WavesL2 and I know its not gonna be that but for someone making just a simple ass beat with a couple loops and such. I personally think its fine. I love albums that are all in the box back in the day. That shit used to inspire me.

People are so used to perfect filtersweeps, or "risers" Depending on the style of music I'm making that shit sounds super damn cheezy and better to be left out. If your into new age trap, you need it upto par with all the other new age trappers, than ya... the DAW, risers/build-ups might be for you.

I do love technical music, I used to make NeuroFunk DNB, but I'm just not going tech at all. Made simple. Beats. Drop on the turntable to scratch or juggle. :smoker:

The point is: if it's good for you, it's good for you.
So you are right, why not using it?
The problem is when you use more devices, no possible to use Air limiter for 4 or 5 different devices, Mpc has just 2 inputs.
And also if you make pro masterings you need to know at least LUFS, phase correlation, maybe a spectrum analyzer and so on.
But if you are fine, that"s fine.

If the air limiter is on the master its totally do-able with multi devices using a mixer or multi channel audio interface. If using a mixer to route items into the mpc all you'd lose out on is per-device effects unless you own some hw processor, however multi channel audio interfaces dont suffer the same fate.

I tried it out on my latest jam for the sake of it and it came out really well. so... i dig it. If i can avoid the pc that's a win.
