I think I have posted before about this; never got any indication that anyone else had ever seen it. However it is getting to be batshit bonkers and I know Akai would like to fix it if they only knew about it....

Anyway: my rig is oriented towards live performance and I use one track in each project to send out an initialization sequence to my main synth on MIDI channel 11. When I look at the MIDI output with MIDI-ox, I see that instead of sending a single pair of bank select messages followed by a program change, I see a the pair of bank messages followed by four identical program changes... and in some cases these sequences are sent multiple times - in the project I'm working on now this sequence is sent 12 times! (that's 48 identical program change messages) In some cases this causes my main synth to lock up. The bizarre thing is that, even if I change the MIDI channel on my control track, all of these are still sent on the original channel.

Has anyone else ever seen anything like this, and/or know what to do about it?

Oh yes - MPC Live, 2.10, but this has been happening for a long time, maybe back to 2.7 or earlier.

OK, more info. I build my songs by creating a bunch of basic sequences, stringing them together in Song mode, reducing that to a single sequence and then working with that going forward. It turns out that, if I delete all the redundant sequences, the junk is not sent - I get a single string of 2 bank changes followed by 4 program changes (it is not repeated 12 times). So this indicates that the MPC is sending the initialization sequence as each sequence is loaded!

I get this on my Bassstation 2, and I think it's on 11 too. I'll have to check. I see the patches on the Basstation going mental. turning the synth on and off sometimes stops it, but I think I end up pulling the USB from the synth. and then it' fine when I plug it in again.

I get before any sequences are loaded.
