It's pretty common for tech companies to prioritize sellable features over quality of life stuff like this. And being a former software engineer, stuff like sorting and filtering lists and all that often gets put at the bottom of the pile.
I'm not making excuses since I feel like at v2.10.1 of a product several years old now they'd have addressed stuff like this, but that said, if they had to choose sorting over Drum Synth and MIDI routing and all the other cool stuff they've shipped in the last couple of years, I think they made the right calls.
