My exported .wav or .mp3 files are muffled

I couldn't find a key word for my problem in the search feature. There's probably a technical term for the issue I'm having as well, but I don't know it.
My tracks sound clean, clear, and perfectly mixed when played back from my mpc x.
I export the track to .wav, .mp3, or any other format and it sounds like it's playing from under a pillow, or like it's in the next room. Everything is "muffled" sounding.
It still sounds clean otherwise, but it's like something is forcing the max volume on the rendered track way down, and in doing so muffles the end result.
I've followed tubediggas video where you lower each pad to absolute zero and slowly raise them, I've tried throwing eq on the master track to clean it up.
Do I absolutely HAVE to render my tracks into a DAW to mix them down properly?
I'm one of the people who write their tracks all on sequence 1 / track 1 , and my pads are basically my individual tracks.

You'll have to provide more detailed info for us to understand what you are doing and where it is going wrong.
How are you exporting? Using the MPC's internal functions? Or Audio cables. USB Audio? What outputs on the X are you using? RCA? Line outs? Are you talking about standalone or controller mode? Are you using an external mixer? What is your bit rate? Its too many possible variables for anyone to accurately guess your issue at the moment.

If your tracks "sounds good" coming out of the MPC outputs, then why don't just just record the output of the MPC via a sound card? You don't have to render anything if it is not to your liking. So don't export anything, play the track directly on the MPC and record its main outs with an audio interface.

MPC has great dynamic range. 113db iirc. if you red line the levels it might still sound good coming out of the MPC but on render it gets distorted because of the limited range of 16bit 44,100 pcm or whatever settings / stream you chose. Mind your levels!
