Disgruntled new MPC X user

As a reasonably new user of the MPC X but a very (20+ years) experienced producer and engineer, I must say I am very surprised and disappointed at how buggy the Akai devices and software appear to be in version 2.10.1

The unit runs fine in Standalone mode.

I have a custom I7 windows 10 64-bit studio computer which runs everything perfectly. Except for the MPCX!

1. cannot use the MPC x as an audio interface with any surety because the driver appears to load or unload arbitrarily.
2. When the interface does work, I can use it with CUBASE professional and wavelab but not to watch a youtube video or play media on VLC
3. Intermittent computer crashes including the blue screen of death

I have a Yamaha MODX with a built-in interface that functions perfectly and a Focusrite PRO 40 which also functions seamlessly.

For the cost of the MPCX, I am one disgruntled new Akai user. Looks to me like a toy for nerds to screw around with rather than for use in a professional studio.

Yes, I have tried everything that you would normally try to resolve this including absolutely no support from Akai.

I wonder has anyone else had this experience or similar?

I can't help with Windows-specific issues, I'm a Mac user, but what you are experiencing is definitely not normal, the MPC X driver is absolutely stable and running fine in Windows 10, it's very mature on that platform. You don't state what you have tried, so perhaps list the steps you have performed to resolve this and maybe we can think of a few others.

As for Akai support, it's best to call them, forget about email.

A typical problem is using visual UI scaling other than 100% in any Windows OS. Can‘t remember where to find that, but I‘d suggest changing that first.

My advice is forget using it as a interface with windows and use your other more capable interfaces. I bought an X when it first came out and I have never had a hour in controller mode without a crash. I believe it’s an issue with the screen display driver either overloading or losing connection with the usb bus controller and then causing havoc trying to reconnect

I didn’t buy mine to be an audio interface midi controller so it only mildly annoys me but I can understand the frustration from it not working. Many users have been complaining about the controller mode connection issues from early on but Akai has never publicly acknowledged or addressed the issue and I don’t expect them to going forward.

I agree, but instead of nerds, I would have written "oldschool MPC users"

You need to get over the fact that you bought an advanced calculator in the computer era.
So logically, you must love using a calculator while having a computer next to you.
When you love each other, the little things don't matter.
There are dudes who can **** MPC in all ways and there are awesome effects from it.

First nice to see a cubase user I own the X also and had similar problems I have i9 11gen cpu with 64 gigs of ram that I built.. yes disconnects and it doesn't play well in a daw for how I use my MPC's therfore I use on in standalone and 8 out to my daw and use my PC as a some mod record into the MPC because I love the sequencer also into cubase for my instruments but that changes depending on my work flow that day... I would download latencymod it's free and it will let you know what processes that are causing dropouts.. I would however upgrade your cpu if you did a benchmark test you will see your limitations... keep your X I'm also a 20 plus Years with the MPC and cubase..

I see a lot of people on the internet using there MpcX in controller mode and honestly I dont think I've worked that way for more than a couple minutes, I think its been years. When I update my machine I check to see if it still works in controller mode then move on.
I never had issues with it as an interface and I've been on windows. In fact it takes over the focusrite I have as soon as its plugged in. Even my Rane mixer does that. As of right now I have everything magically working together driverwise.

I feel like its something to do with your computer, but then again, I can just blame that.
Basically everybody suggests using it in Standalone. Less problems can arise away from the computer. I dont get crashes besides the odd one I had for a bit which I found out was a corrupt Thumb Drive causing it, or... It was that I had too many things plugged into it. I havent had one since.

Could be an old plug in or multiple plugins in different locations..old plug-ins..video card driver application running in the background.. but I will say I'm not a fan of the software
