Ok hi all
just got MPC key 61 there are USB conductivity which are really annoying why they have done it this way i don't understand been in touch with support and this is how it is
don't like the MPC software on the PC
i use Traction waveform love it with lots of VSTs want to layer these with the keys 61
so not come across this issues with other USB keyboards
as you know there are 3 USB on are the system, USB port A x 2 and Port B if you connect any of these ports the PC does not recognize it as a USB device so no DAW sees the keyboard
USB port B is dedicated to the PC MPC DAW
so load the MPC program on the PC, you then push the little icon MPC icon on the menu screen on the keys this start the handshaking looking for computer the PC bleeps its found USB a few light on the keys light up and after a while the key syncs and the keys 61 goes in to controller mode so you can use it with the MPC software DAW
the other DAW will also see it any other keyboards or audio outputs as MPC has taken control
USB port A will send midi data but the port again is not recognised by the PC and you have to tell keys 61 to send from this port, in Menu/midi control/midi output port, set this to send from port A
so USB port that don act like USB ports?
so I bought midi to USB interface to use with the 5 pin din plugs old school, PC saw this straight away and Waveform DAW could see it too result,
but no, no midi going through from keys to PC to DAW
so what i had to do to get this to work was push keyboard control button scroll down to external keyboard routing tick "keyboard sends midi here", this work midi out to DAW yipeeeee
but for this to work the midi output port had to be set to" MPC key 61 key port A" , which is the USB port
none of this makes sense
so software firmware issues, but the bottom line here is, i have 3 USB port that do not work as USB ports and tell the PC when connected that a USB device is connected if this does not happen you cannot use other DAWS
this is an amazing keyboard but why have Akai done this, this limits the functionality of the keyboard and makes this keyboard great but not outstanding
Akai sort this out please these, i want the USB port to bee seen by my PC as all other USB ports work and to use my preferred DAW's

And all this time I thought I was the only one seeing this problem.
