Hi all!

A good friend has been very generous and lent me his MPC Live II for almost a year now.
I've made loads of beats on it and need to transfer them to my computer to finish them.

I use Logic Pro X. And I've also downloaded the MPC Software to my computer.

When I go to sign in to the MPC Software I use my friends username and password and it never works.
My friend is sure that the login details are correct yet still, no dice.

Moving forward: What are my options from here?

Is there a way to use it with Logic Pro. All I want to do is transfer the individual tracks across and be able to edit and mix from there. I really don't want to have to record every single track in, one at a time, and then have to chop and drag them in time. This will take forever!

Ideally, in future, I'd like to use my computer with the MPC together while creating tracks because, while I find the MPC great for creating loops, I find it limiting when trying to think in longer sequences and more open arrangements.

Is there a way I can still use the MPC Software?
Should I download another program to use such as Ableton Live (I know nothing about Ableton but happy to learn).
Or is there a good way to get the MPC and Logic Pro working well together?

Many thanks in advance for any advice.

Have a great day.

not sure what you mean regarding the MPC Software, there's no username/pass required for install or authorization, but you will need an ilok account and the authorisation code for your copy of the MPC software. Did you mean username/pass for his inmusic account?

Anyway, no MPC Software needed. In the MPC in standalone mode, select a sequence to export. If you use song mode, use 'convert to seq' to create a single sequence from your song.

go to menu > save and choose the audio mixdown option. There you can select 'explode tracks' and it will create individual stems for all your tracks - make sure you export to an attached disk, not the internal drive. You can then connect that drive to your computer and drag & drop the wav file stems into logic.

Thanks very much for your reply. That definitely helps.

As far as the MPC Software - I should have been more specific because I would still like to use it.
When I open it I am asked for an activation code. As I don't have an activation code, the options are 'Try' or 'Quit'.
'Try' Leads to an ilock login page. The password my friend has (who lent me the MPC) doesn't work.

When I try to create my own ilock account it wants certain information that neither of us have. For example it wants the date, store and receipt number of purchase of the MPC for it to be registered.
The machine was given to my friend by Akai because he's a well known artist so those details don't apply. Without those details, I can't get through the ilock forms to be able to use the software.

Is there another way I can obtain the activation code for the MPC Software?

Make an account on akai inmusic main page and use the serial number on the bottom of the mpc to register it.

When you do that the account gives you access to the download links and the activation code.
