WUUUUTTT?!? For real?

I didn't get a chance last night to try the second vid.

When I get back home I will go through the first vid a few more times and see if I can recreate the problem. I started a new project each time, 4 times with several diff samples on all layers, always got the expected results, 4 samples would flatten to 1 pad/1 sample. Video has slices set to ALL, I tried ALL and again with PAD. I don't know what else was different.

I didn't notice the automation thing. I'll make sure to look for that tonight also.

Memory is maxed out. That's probably it. Will report back on whether I get it to work if I can somehow get it to save my project files to either the USB stick or to the SD card so I can clear the internal drive. Right now none of this works, and it still says 0 bytes free space even though I deleted 3 project files including project data and all. Honestly I'm starting to think my unit is haunted or something.

Full memory is a problem.
Memory is also your workspace while the machine is on.
You have no space for the new sample that’s created when flattening.
Also no processing space.

Ok so I also just bounced a midi track to a sample (I had a kik, snare, hihat pattern going all on trk1) assigned it to pad, played from pad as expected.

I also just bounced the same midi track to an audio track, main menu dropped me into audio tracks, I hit edit audio and my audio is there and plays as expected.

I started this with a new empty project and had zero problems.

Ok so I figured out the reason why it wouldn't save to SD card or USB stick. For no explainable reason I ended up using a template with a long name as a starting point for the vast majority of my projects without bothering to rename or shorten the source name, and somehow a # sign had snuk its way in there, contaminating all later project names.

Once confirmed that the # was the problem I could start the enjoyable task of loading, renaming, saving and deleting all the project files, which is now finally done, and I'm happy to say that both the Flatten Pad function and the rest of my MPC seem to be working correctly. :-D

Had to delete about 40 projects before I got past 0 bytes free space. Don't know what that is about, but I wont be saving to the internal drive from now on anyway.
While I'll admit to being somewhat careless about the way I've been using the MPC, skipping the manual etc, I can still think of a few things to say regarding fair assumptions about post 1995 technology for default saving destinations in 2017 gear but I'll leave it there. I've had this thing now for over 3 years and mostly been pleased with it, and unless I run into big issues that don't turn out to be user errors it's probably not going anywhere. Thanks for the helpful responds

The special character thing has been brought up a few times recently and has bugged out several people, lol.

I've never used special characters, I've always known to just keep things normal, nice and neat.

Glad you found it hiding, now eradicate that lil ****.

I am having the same issue. I flatten pad, then the pad just comes up empty and no sample to be found on my SD card or or internal memory.

Has anyone managed to resolve this issue?

Hi all, re: flattening pad issue. It seems that if you clear your internal memory then restart your machine the problem resolves. such a relief :)

Small update/variation on this bug... (on OS 2.11.5) In my case I guess it's more of an OS quirk that took me almost an hour to figure out:

I was trying to flatten a pad and the result of the flattening operation was just a silent sample...

It turns out that if the track the program is assigned to is set to monitor "IN", the MPC cannot resample the pad and the result is just silence.

If you set the track monitor to OFF, AUTO or MERGE, the flattening function should work properly.

I had same issue on a 2.11.6 update as you wrote in the beginning.
Internal Memory Is full!
Once i free up internal memory It works. Working on both for bounce and flattening.

confirm. fixed it for me thanks for the heads up.
