MPC Live II Audio Track Overdub Issue

Apologies if this has been raised before, I did try an search but couldn't find this specific issue.

Using an MPC Live II with latest firmware.

I am running my guitar pedalboard into Inputs 1 and 2 in stereo.

I can record an audio track no problem, my issue comes with overdubbing. Even though after recording it plays back what has recorded and switches to overdub (and the track is still set to arm and the monitor button is set to auto) I can no longer hear my input and no overdubs are recorded.

Furthermore, if I stop everything and try to overdub from scratch the same happens (can't hear anything, nothing recorded).

The frustrating thing is, it used to work, at least I think it did. I recently moved from an MPC One (which it definitely worked on) to my MPC Live II and at some point the overdub stopped working.

I've tried downgrading firmware, removing the SSD I installed, everything. I just can't get it to work.

This is on any project. Existing ones, new ones, all are behaving the same.

Does anyone have any clues?

Since writing this I've read in a couple of places (albeit on things written >1 year ago) that you can't overdub audio tracks on MPC.

This is odd as I'm sure I remember doing this on my MPC One. Maybe I was just thinking about overdubs on drum tracks and I've just mis-remembered this.

Any advice gratefully received.

Audio tracks never supported overdub, you're think about the Looper function.

But no overdub on audio tracks, and there was never such function.

I'm going to put this one down to advancing age and reducing memory!

It must have been the looper function, combined with memories of overdubbing drum tracks.

At least my unit isn't defective!
