Unknown I think, I suspect they are working this out as they go along. I assume they would transfer the licenses with the hardware transfer, but that would require akai support responding to emails :lol:


Pretty sure it's quite known already. Purchased plugins are tied to your Inmusic/Akai account, and since you have to log in to authenticate them on your MPC, if you sold your MPC, assuming you didn't log out of your account on your MPC or de-authorize them, they would remain intact. But a system preferences reset might cause issues down the line, as would any upgrade to a newer firmware. Also, I think they need to "call home" on occasion to re-authenticate, though on that point I'm a little less sure.

If I sell my MPC, I'd personally de-authorize any purchased plugins, log out of my Inmusic/Akai account, and reset system preferences before it left me anyway. But that's only because I'd want to hold on to the plugin licenses for use on my new MPC that would be replacing it... :lol:

But since the keys works the same way, that means someone could log out of there account and keep them new owner from getting them, even though they are free with the keys.. I have to think akai have thought about this and have a way around this. Do you know that if you close your account the installed plug ins on hardware won't work anymore? It is this a guess?

I have Key61.

Got home, turned it on, all plugins are there and playing. No Bluetooth on, no wifi, no login, just started playing. The kybd didn’t see the internet at all. Key61 acted the same way Live, One and X did when you bought it and didn’t connect to internet/updates.

I didn’t register the Key61 till many days later.

I’m not cancelling my account to “try” or find out what happens for the “experiment”. But, I highly doubt the plugins that came new + preinstalled will just stop working if an account is cancelled.

Right, but if you did go into your Key 61's preferences under "activate plugins", and you de-activated them (and logged out of your account) and sold your Key 61, that would allegedly remove the licenses from that Key 61. That means if you had an X or Live or One laying around you'd be able to use them on those even if you sold your Key 61. I mean, not that it would be a good deal for the buyer of said Key 61, anyway! :lol:

Unless... is there no option to de-activate the newer plugin bundle on your Key 61? Are they permanent?

That's around 7GB. Perhaps there's some support files I've missed for the computer install, but that's it for standalone.


I wouldn't read too much into wav sizes.

Korg Triton ROM was just 32 MB, while the Yamaha Montage has 5.7GB uncompressed.

Comparing Fabric (and the rest of the instrument collection) with my library (Korg Collection, Komplete Ultimate, Sonic Reality Gold Bundle, Xpand!2), it comes out very well.

It delivers the character I liked in the Triton while offering solid pianos and strings (but seemed to lack key-switching).

Seems pretty solid to me.

Plus you get to use it on a standalone device with a touch screen.

I have downloaded the trial version of both Stage Piano and Fabric Piano since i was trying to find a decent piano plugin for the MPC One. With some tweaking, I was able to get both to sound decent, if not great. But at least would be a nice alternative that works natively on the MPC One. My issue with both plugins was that polyphony seemed incredibly poor. Like 45 notes on the Stage Piano plugin. The Fabric Piano I couldn't find any info on polyphony but it seemed a smidge better, but still poor. Does anyone know if there are further settings to increase the polyphony? Or is it really just that bad?
