Way to record with only sound through headphone??

First of all i might be an idiot... but in my mind i used to record vocals and then the music only played through my headphone, and if i wanted to edit or listen i could play it through the monitors....
Am i right that i have to turn off the monitor speakers when i am recording to prevent my microphone to record the sound of my monitor speakers or am i missing a setting???

Hi Parialated !
I *think* you can assign a different ouput (3,4) instead of 1,2 , this way you bypass the main ouputs, but the headphone.
Alternatively, you have indeed to mute the speakers.

Its stupid that in 2023 mpc software doesn't offer a option where your speaker automatically mute when you record vocals....

Instead of twisting the master volume or in my case hitting a button on the console

Wait...if you turn the master on the mpc, that doesnt affect the sound of the headphone?? than that is the solution of my question... i think on the mpc renaissance i had direct monitoring and main volume....
And what button is it on the mpc live 2????

MPC X, master volume and headphone volume in the front (audio interface) have nothing to do with each other.

I use a mixer to increase the amount of inputs, i run my mic, guitar, bas guitar through that....
