Hear me out -- I've tried a few approaches and can't quite get what I want.
My setup is I have an MPC live that I often use in standalone, but also use in my DAW (Studio One) as a midi controller.
If I'm just playing a drum track on EZdrummer, for example, I go ahead and switch to "midi control" mode in the MPC and can play all of my virtual instruments on the wonderful MPC pads. It's great.
I love using the sequencer in MPC. I just like drawing everything there. But I can't achieve the following:
- Step 1: Select instrument that I want to sequence, in my DAW
- Step 2: Draw the sequence in the MPC sequencer
- Step 3:
If I go into Midi Control mode on the MPC, the sequencer stops triggering.
If I leave midi control mode, obviously, the MPC stops sending the midi data to my DAW.
Is what I'm attemping impossible? Should I just buy a small midi sequencer and stop trying to make this happen?
To be clear: I know I can drag and drop the sequence midi patterns into my instrument track in the daw. I'm just wondering if I can trigger my DAW's vst, while editing the midi sequence in my MPC.
Thanks and happy creating!
