Got a used MPC Live 2 Retro for $600. Good deal or I did ok?

Didnt come with box or anything (just power supply). I come from using the mpc touch v1, so it seems like a learning curve (if anyone can pin a good video to help would appreciate it), and how do I clean up the buttons without removing the text or damaging anything? Guy really used the heck out it.

I mean, $600 for any Live II is a pretty damn good deal, so I'd wager you did OK - assuming it has no hardware issues, has a good battery, and the previous owner didn't delete anything off of the factory storage. As for cleaning it, use a thick pile microfiber cloth and some Pledge multisurface (made for electronics). Or you can just use a damp thick pile microfiber cloth with a little warm water and mild dish soap (just ring out the microfiber cloth so it's just damp, and not laden with soapy suds). After you wipe the gunk off with that, go over it with a fresh thick pile microfiber cloth damp with just warm water to get any soap residue left over. You'll be right as rain.

I think the battery he said sucked, but it held out for me about 2-3 hours. The rotary knob is bit clicky, but I can live with it, and everything else is fine except the buttons are dirty.

Dirty buttons/case is an easy fix - just some housekeeping needed. The main data encoder is supposed to be slightly clicky (it's a graduated potentiometer), or do you mean the Q-Links? As for the battery, when new the Live II get's anywhere from 5-6 hours of runtime, though 4 hours seems to be a popular common runtime, as well. If you're getting 2-3 hours, then it's definitely not running at peak capacity. Previous owner might have kept it plugged in and charged to 100% all of the time (which greatly reduces lithium-ion battery life), or perhaps the battery was just from a bad batch. Either way, you can buy replacement batteries for around $240 USD if it's really bothering you, though replacing it isn't exactly a walk in the park.

You think thats a good deal still? And what about the buttons? How can i clean those?

Battery issue is exactly why I can’t pull the trigger on the second hand market. The battery is important to my work flow and why I need to replace my OG live

It is plug and play, you just have to open it up. Not hard at all.
