Hi.
I don’t want to promote anyone on youtube on this forum, but I found a really cool series of videos of a guy going in depth on the mpc eqs, compressors and limiters and explaining the differences between the different kind of these. I found them really useful.
I post them here and not in the production technique section because the videos are one for the latest gens of mpcs.

Limiters:

I saw the limiter video the other day. Pretty cool. On a side note, I don't think the problem is with youtubers in general but with "influencer" youtubers that are shills for companies IYKWIM

Yes these are good. I enjoy deep dives into the more advanced features of MPCs and it's plugins.
There seems to be more than enough videos out there on How To Sample, or How To Chop, or general basic beat making videos, so these kinda tutorials are very welcome in my opinion.

And quality videos are hard to find. They usually spend most of the time telling you what compression, limiting and EQ is then 5 seconds pointing out the knob names.

I wandered into this chat from the EA-ski mess.
It’s funny how people complain about the MPC shortcomings when they are more powerful then the 1st 3 MPCs combined . . . . . .

That being said, I watched these vids 2 times over & got a lot b/c I’m rather ignorant about the fine points of mixing. The fact that he explained it using MPC tools made it much more relevant than some of the audio engineering books I bought back in the day. I will come back to these vids time & time again. They really point out the potential in properly using EQ and compressor.

A] the lack of “auto-gain” to A/B fx is lacking
he noted this several times throughout his vids & we hope AKAI took note also

b]he’s using the MPC 60 emulator insert
not b/c he’s an OG MPC head but b/c he actually liked the effect it had on his sound

c] his vids well illustrate the value in choosing the right compressor. He covers all 6 pretty well. He pointed out that turning the compressor all the way up allows 1 to see the effect it has on your music. you can then dial it back down once you have confirmed that this is compression u want
