Hi! Im a new MPC Live 2 owner. Recently I learned how to sample my VSTS in MPC software in order to load them as keygroups in standalone. I sampled a bass VST and it worked incredibly. Next, i sampled a rhodes vst but this one wont even load at all. I get the “not enough memory” error and this is with a fresh empty project. When i sampled the rhodes vst i had to set it for a larger range, longer notes and more incremental sampling. i understood that these factors would make it somewhat of a memory hog but It’s crazy to me that the memory would be completely cratered that easily. I just wonder if something is wrong with my MPC? Is there a way i can convert this keygroup to mp3 samples or something less taxing on the internal memory? Any ideas on how to get this working? Look at the set of wav files and see how large they are. Figure out what's taking up too much space and adjust something to get it smaller. Sample file format and file compression wouldn't make any difference even if they were supported, because Akai converts the samples to 32 bit float internally when loading. If your samples are 100 megs on disk as 16 bit WAV files, they will eat 200 megs of the MPC's RAM.

88 notes in 6 velocity layers is about 500 samples, assuming 5 seconds each results in 45 minutes of audio, 90 minutes if you sampled the VST in stereo.
Memory consumption (considering the 32 bit format) would be equivalent to 2-4 CDs ;)

Auto-sampling such an instrument isn‘t the most efficient approach... :hmmm:

they're in stereo too? no wonder..

as with most 'lists of 3 things' in life, you can generally only choose 2 of these optons ;)
low note stride is especially memory intensive. let the keygroup do some sound warping.

And yes, absolutely stick to mono, plus all the other suggestions.

Ultimately if you sample pianos to full natural decay you'll quickly run out of memory in standalone MPCs. You'll need to employ careful sustain looping and some other trickery to get the sizes down. In Electric Keys I managed to get the entire Rhodes piano down to around 100MB, and that's over 8 velocity layers. But this is a long, tedious job, not something you can just whizz off in a quick autosampler session.
