Mpc expansions transfer to new computer?

Hey so I’ve purchased about 8 expansions from the Mpc expansion store over the years. I’m about to install the Mpc software on another computer.
When I manually copied the expansions folder over, they don’t show up in the software as expansions.
Is there a way to do that?
I think it’s silly that Mpc expansions aren’t linked to your account so you can go re download the installer……

Any ideas?

Did you save the installers? IF not you can export the expansion from the old PC into it's own folder for standalone MPC's. You can then take that expansion folder and drop it back into Expansion program to make a installer file. You then can take that installer file and drop it directly into the MPC software whiles it's open.


I had to do this when I moved from PC to MAC. I never downloaded the Mac installers when I bought the expansions.

The official Akai expansions require both the 'Content' folder and the 'Expansions' folder copied over onto the new computer.

Does this also hold true for backups? It would have been nice to have an import option (like the export option) to enable you to back up your expansions...

Just t o re-cap, to backup your expansions, you should copy the "Content" and "Expansions" folders. To re-import (after i.e. hdd failure) is just to dump these back into your Akai folder?

Yes, just copy everything back where it came from. You should note that 'third party' expansions (from XPN installer files) are stored in a different location and are contained in a single folder. This one is in the User folder > Library > application Support > Akai > MPC > Expansions

No, just copy the com.mpc-samples.thereaper folder itself, but you can just copy the entire 'Expansions' folder to transfer/backup all third party expansions at once.

Look for a *.json file , cut and paste it on your desktop (for backup)
then relaunch the Mpc Software and it will rebuild the database

Can't edit the post , the "Library,json" is located at C:\ProgramData\Akai\MPC

So. I have this problem as well... I moved from PC to Mac. But all my purchases expansion are on my pc. And standalone.. exactly how do I get them to my mac so I can work on songs already on my mpc live2. ( please help like I'm S. L. O. E. Just a little clearer than the the above comments. I just moved over to mac and I didn't want to but PC was too much problems and it won't see my sad inside my live or key 61. ( that's another story) ps that's guys

Just download the Mac version of the expansions from Akai's site. When you click drag on the installers to the MPC Software it will automatically install them to the appropriate locations.

I no longer have access to the original links it's been years. Have them on pc (expansion) but now using a Mac
