Standalone usb midi to mpc software

Hi, I’m trying to keep my Mpc live or One in Standalone and use usb midi out to a laptop with Mpc software on it to hold backing tracks.

I want to setup an external midi track on the Mpc and trigger the start of a backing track loaded to a pad of a drum track on the computer.

I know I can go controller mode but I’ve had issues with all my midi ports switching on me. It’s frustrating to be setup at a club and about to go on and surprise you have to change all your midi assignments.

I’m trying to do this due to the limited ram in standalone. I have a singular “live set” project with 1 song per sequence. It helps keep the flow going when you don’t have to load a new project per song.

I’ve converted my backing tracks to mono but I’m already at 50% ram. So if I could hold my backing tracks on mpc software and trigger them via the mpc, it would be a wonderful sunny experience.

AFAIK, the way MIDI/USB works with the MPC is a bit strange. You can't just send MIDI over USB, at least I was never able to simply do that, you need to use AKAI network driver system which you have to download first. OR use the MIDI DIN outputs with a MIDI interface.

So go to your AKAIpro account and download these proprietary drivers.

It would be helpful if one could just use the MPC in a class compliant way but it doesn't seem possible.
