Endless pads still not possible?

Hi,

I've had my MPC Live for quite some time now. I do a lot of ambient with long pads, and I know for a long time it was impossible to not have the note restart as a new sequence starts. That's a big deal, so I've mostly used the MPC to make some beats and just as a central brain for my synths.

I'm actually starting to play out live now, and I'm wondering, has that changed? Any new workarounds besides long reverb tails or long releases? I have a lot of tunes where I want one thing to be constant, with different sequences changing as they progress. Am I still out of luck on that? Haven't been able to find anything conclusive, Thanks.

Use song mode to convert to a single sequence (then re-record the pads accordingly) , or work with a single sequence to start with?

I think I may have to approach it thst way. A long pad and use track mutes for the whole thing

you can use the Odissey plugin with vca gain up, basically you don't use at all the envelopes, you just open the amplifier directly, this way you can drone on indefinitely, without even generating midi note events... and still be able to tweak the sound

Thanks. I'm not a big fan of the synths in the MPC, I have much better hardware stuff and would like to be able to have them drone on endlessly.

An external MIDI processor in the middle could help. Strip out all Note-Off messages. Or use sustain pedal CC. Then limit the number of sounding voices, so it always plays e.g. the 4 most recently received notes. Or does a sequence-change cut out all sound without any MIDI messages being sent? Then use an external sound module for these.

Sometimes you may have to do something difficult to achieve what you want.

Oh, I know. I just think that a product like this not having that quite popular feature is kind of a bummer. I'm trying to spend more time on music and less on the tech side of it.
