Mmmhh it is not possible that I am starting this thread, but I could find only the bug reports thread for 2.11-12. This was also reported to Akai.

Despite Monitor button set to off, external MIDI source disrupts playback. This was observed on MPC-X standalone running firmware 2.13.0. To reproduce:

1) Configure a MIDI track to receive notes using MIDI DIN from an external sequencer. Make the sequence receive and use the MPC's clock, start and stop. Record a sequence made of rich chords, e.g. 5 notes at a time.
2) Set the Monitor button from Auto to Off.
3) On the external sequencer, change its configuration to play something else, but so that it still starts and stops together with the MPC.
4) Playback the sequence, and you will hear that a few notes in the chord seem to be disrupted: they don't start at all, or get a Note Off sooner than the others in the same chord. For safety, monitor what is played by using a MIDI visualizer (e.g. see https://imgur.com/eXZkxCa ).
5) Set MIDI INPUT to <none>, and the sequence will playback correctly instead.

But shouldn't the Monitor button set to off be sufficient not to be disrupted by the external sequencer? The user guide version 2.13 on page 147 says that "When set to Off, the track's MIDI input is not monitored, and playback of recorded events will be heard".

When set to Off, the track's MIDI input is not monitored, and playback of recorded events will be heard. This
setting is useful when using keyboards with Local Control active.

#1
Was the kybd set to local control?

Also, main menu, eyeball (unhide), third icon, you can further configure the midi port.
Change ALL.
Is your midi controller/kybd in omni (all ports)?

#2
Is this the simultaneous midi note problem we all have experienced (well documented on the forums).
I didn't notice it for a long time but I kept following people's advice to re-create and I finally saw it.

Thanks @Lampdog.

#1 The external MIDI controller is not set to local control. It is set on a specific port and channel. It is actually by switching the MIDI input port to <none> that I believe I've demonstrated that the problem is caused by the MPC listening to MIDI when it should not (Monitor off). So this seems not to be the issue.

#2 That may be, but when Monitor is off the MPC should ignore my external MIDI controller in any case, so this seems a bug of its own.

At some point, not specifically with the release of 2.13, AKAI introduced a bug. It's small in the scheme of things, but annoying none the less.

I have an MPC One. There used to be a progress bar that popped up when loading sounds in some of the sample based plugins like Fabric. This feedback suddenly stopped appearing, so now the only way to know if all the content for a preset has loaded is to keep pounding the pads / keys until you hear the preset. With synth content on an SD card and a preset that relies on a lot of sample this can take a fair number of seconds. The visual feedback from the progress bar was useful.
