MPC Live 2 updated to latest firmware but this has happened in previous versions as well.

MacBook Pro M1 with 16gb of RAM and latest MPC software. Currently running Sonoma but it also happened before I updated.

When the Live 2 is in controller mode, at some point during my session the MPC hardware will become unresponsive. All buttons on the hardware go black and none of them will work. I can still see my changes in the software on the MPC's screen but that's it.

Close the software, eject my disks and try to switch to Standalone Mode. The MPC boots, the pads flash but when the hardware turns back on none of the buttons work. Nothing is lit up and I can't control the hardware with the hardware buttons, only with the screen. Go to Info and see INVALID SERIAL NUMBER as well as Control Surface <Unknown>. Only thing that corrects this is waiting. Sometimes 10mins, sometimes 1+ hours.

Akai support keeps telling me that this is likely caused by the MPC being connected to my MBP M1 through a USB 3.0 hub which I don't think makes much sense. I've ordered a USB 3.0 to USB-C cable as well as a 4 port USB 3.2 hub that will be delivered today but this is really disappointing, and will be even more disappointing if the additional $60 I just spent don't resolve the issue.

Anyone else with similar experiences?

That's the real kicker. I only use controller mode to do track mutes.

I like to arrange by doubling my sequence to like 128 or 256 bars and then muting. I find it really difficult to do this on the hardware as I can't see all my tracks at once (unless I'm missing something).
