Stable reliable OS?

So after a long break, I am going to use my Mpc again.
I am still on 2.9.
Which new update shall I install?
Which is the more stable one?
I just use standalone, I never installed the software.
I read here and there about bugs, issues etc.
I don't really need stems, I don't care.

They all have bugs so there's no perfect version, check the various bug topics to see which ones you can live with. 2.10.1 was okay, but from 2.11 you are getting things like more plugins, fx, sounds browser, etc and there's some nasty MIDI issues (maybe started 2.12, but unclear).

Don't forget you can always downgrade if need be. TBH 2.9 seemed pretty decent...

If you do upgrade, and start working on projects, make sure you save a new version... otherwise firmware 2.9 will be unable to open the project as it will be upgraded to the newer version of firmware.

Best to make backups, copies, or otherwise save as a new file (with the firmware name) until you get comfortable with the new environment.

I'd stay where you are, maybe 2.10 (I think 2.10 may have added the audio interfaces, but maybe that was 2.9??).

The GUI changed at one of these too (2.10?), and like Tutor said, after 2.10, all the updates were just adding more plugins for you to buy.

I'd say Download 2.9 or whatever current version you're on/Then Save the File to your Computer....Then you can upgrade to 2.15 to see if it works for you. If It Doesn't fit your workflow, revert back to 2.9 or whatever you're on

how far you can roll back depends on what unit you own as well.

I just wanted to upgrade to the last one but then I read here that MIDI remote play/stop is broken. WTF. I need that.
So what's the last update where midi transport still works fine?

Oooh in that case another vote for 2.9 or 2.10 hah. I think that was what OS i was running when I tracked all my stuff out of the MPC into Cubase (and previously Logic) and I had no trouble syncing the MPC to Cubase and using MMC.

How bad they broke midi transport.
Hopefully they will fix it soon.

The majority of the midi bugs that cropped up around 2.10/2.11 haven't been fixed in... years. Basically it seems the rewrote the midi subsystem, and then haven't really come back to revisit the issues it introduced.
