Let's talk about Mpc Reverb.

Adjusting the Settings requires some Skill.

I mean we're talking making music on the MPC. Not Reverbing a Church Choir lol

I believe the AIR Reverb alone can work magic on a Track....Or on the Final Mix.

I mean, have you literally ever used Valhalla VintageVerb? Or perhaps Eventide Blackhole or FabFilter Pro-R? MPC's reverbs - ANY AND ALL OF THEM - they just don't hold a candle to any of those. Keep in mind I'm talking about sound.

My friend, it's decades I use reverbs, rack ones, pedals, computer plugins and so on.
I know how to tweak a reverb and I know what every parameter does.
I guess you don't have much experience with reverbs.
Just rise the volume of the return and rise the decay of Air reverb, you will notice that your source sound will suffer in definition, this reverb masks some of its frequencies and gets to some phase issues.
A good reverb doesn't affect the source sound and can be used at longer decays.
At longer decays, Air Reverb will make your mix muddy and confused.
Just switch off Air Reverb and try a good external one or a good plugin on the software, then we can talk about it.

I got you Bruh...I'll try to Experiment with a Professional Outboard Reverb unit. I've played with some of the Waves Convolution and standard Reverbs. Again those seem to be overkill for what I was doing back in the day.

I agree. I use Eventide SP2016, Soundtoys super plate and Echoboy, SSL Flexverb and X-echo, Sonnox reverb, valhalla... It's light years away.
In fact, I have the same problem with the equalizer and compressor designed by Air for the mpc. I find that the equalizer doesn't sound right. The compressor is just as bad... in short, when you're using professional plug-ins, it's hard to ignore them.
And besides, today, I can't think of a single studio that works with Air's plugins....

Air Eq and compressors sound really good for me.
They are very digital, maybe, they don't have character, but they do their job perfectly.
Those effects were included in Pro Tools for many years for a reason.
What is that doesn't sound right on the eq for you?
Did you try to tweak the Q a bit?
I found it works fine if you close the Q, look for the right frequency spot and then open the Q until it sounds good.
I always was it this way and it sounds right to me.
The compressor just makes what it is for, you have all the right parameters. Maybe it doesn't add character as many plugins do, and for sure I used much more powerful compressors then the Air one, but still it makes its job.
If you want to add character, I suggest to use Diode Clipper at a very subtle volume, try it after the compressor.

They are certainly usable. Like most of the other effects except for the reverb. Well the non linear one sounds OK to me but that's about it. Seems most here agree that the reverb is what really stands out in a negative way. It's not about settings.

This tread will soon become as long as the reverb tail I'd like to have for my MPC! lol

It's an artist who uses the Force but it's of course applicable to MPCs. There are quite a few tutorials, so I highly recommend watching his other videos.
For those of you looking for long reverbs with Shimmer, this video is for you. It's not perfect and needs to be applied sparingly, but it really helps out when tweaking.
To stay with AIR effects, there's of course Ether, which would be really nice in standalone, but if they haven't done it, it's because it certainly takes up a lot of CPU resources.

I didn't try it but it looks interesting, I would love to hear some feedback from someone who tried it.
If Air managed to make an MPc version of Minigrand, which was my default piano when I used ProTools, then maybe they can optimize Ether for MPC.
After Delay PRO, it would make sense if they make a Reverb PRO.

Never try Ether, it's a little too expensive (99€) But, like you, I hope Akai or Air, will make a great Reverb Pro
