Using a midi keyboard with akai MPC key 37

Basically i want to add a 61 key setup to the existing 37 keys. And I understand that the 5 pin midi ports will allow for it but I was wondering if I could connect my key 37 usb port to a usb midi keyboard and use that as the 61 keys to trigger soundsnin the key 37.
Would've tested it myself but i bought it on a tour and don't have a keyboard to test it.

Yep, just plug it in to the USB port
