Why are the Q-Links Touch Sensitive?

To elaborate on touch utilisation - touch detection can allow to overwrite automation if you hold the q link encoder at given value (in automation rec mode). Otherwise device would assume the encoder is not touched and old values are used.

When you touch something, practically anything, the electrical resistance changes. The MPC is just reading the resistance of the encoder body. You could even do this with a regular encoder. You could do this with the faceplate. For myself, I use it as a way to turn effects on and off quickly. Touch the encoder, effect on, release, effect off. Or I use it as a toggle switch for mutes or whatever. If you can't think of how to use these attributes creatively, you must look deep inside yourself and ask if you really really want to have fun making music.

On the subject of Q-Links, has anyone ever replaced theirs? Where sells them and what's the part number. I tried MPC Stuff, but now luck.

2 of mine a jumpy, they seems to have a problem area in stroke. I've tried Dioxite fader cleaner, but the only way in is through a gap in the shaft, and does seem to help, but is temporary.

I'm also worried about flooding it too much when it's on, so clean during down time.

I wrapped a little tinfoil in all my knobs and q-links then put the caps back on. Seemed to tighten them all up a bit

They aren't loose, there seems an issues with the wipers. Problem happens when I turn the shaft directly with the knobs removed. And sometimes if they are left in a problem area they jump around on their own changing settings. a quick twist back and forth and the settled down a bit.
