Roland RC-505 mk2 works nicely as an audio interface for my MPC One. In the RC-505 mk2 USB "Line out" mode, I have good fun layering vocals and acoustic instruments over MPC tracks... The MPC as a MIDI looper while the RC-505 is its audio looper alter-ego.

Also, in spite of both device's reputation for MIDI capriciousness, the RC-505 mk2 works fine as MIDI slave to the MPC One.

The RC-505 mk2's USB "Loop in" mode is of course almost pointless for the MPC One: audio input from the MPC One into RC-505 loops is far inferior to MIDI looping, though I have used it for fun with young kids, as its immediacy is more appropriate for that.

Also, in a non-live context, I can use the RC-505 mk2 as an acoustic sketchpad - and resample on the MPC through USB, lossless or pretty close to lossless (I have no idea what digital resampling might be involved - the whole chain runs at 44.1 kHz). Sub-optimal as it is, it is nevertheless a quicker method than mounting the RC-505 as USB mass storage, picking the .wav file, copying it to removable media and mounting that on the MPC for sample selection.

RC-505 mk2 and MPC feel like a great match to me: now my MPC has an audio live looper. With a cheap microphone (t.bone MB85, a Shure SM-58 clone, are insane bargains used) and my Arturia Keystep 37, I have everything I imagine needing and the whole is a compact package.

If you do hook it up at some point, It would be good to know how it goes.

I've upgraded to 3.4.1 but haven't tried the UMC-1820 or ADA8200. I should be trying the 1820 this week and will report back. I need to order cables for the 8200 to be able to try that. Should be doing that soon as well. But probably within the next 2 weeks I can let you know if they work fine or not.

Sorry that this is ages later, but I have tested on 3.5 Standalone w/ Behringer UMC 1820 & ADA8200 hooked up w/ 2 TOS cables. I need to do more testing, but I was able to plug my hardware synth into all 16 inputs and record with no issues from any of them. Now I need to get my rack together and hook up all my synths to do further tests. But everything sounded good here during my testing. So that's just
over $400 for 16 ins and outs in only 2u rack spaces.

Indeed, consolidation is long overdue.

So, here is the Working/Non Working Class Compliant USB Interfaces Github wiki page !

It is Github wiki page, so anyone with a free Github account can edit it.

Nice work (p.s. I started the thread)

On a whim just tried my Tone Master Pro as an interface (with a Force on the newest fw), expecting some kind of no-go error message - but it seems to be working fine. Only 4 input channels (1/2 are wet, 3/4 are dry) but easy to grab a raw copy of guitar/bass/vocal/whatever alongside the processed track, and process it later if desired (in the MPC/Force, with the TMP, or any other way).

(I haven't even run a mic through the TMP as yet, despite having had it for over a year, but good to know that should be a relatively easy option to record a gtr/vocal to whatever I have on the Force.)

And the TMP just had a fw update to allow MIDI over USB, so its effects are syncing up nicely with the Force as well.

Obviously I can do all this via the Force ins (or via any other interface) but good to know this minimal 'one cable' option works.

for me using exclusively mpc + modular it would be such a strong core

I use the ES-9 and it also doesn't work. It records clean but live monitoring is filled with harsh crackles. Fixing this would make each modular user with an Expert Sleepers into a Thanos.

AKAI... PLEASE FIX THIS.
