Intermittent Audio Dropout When Switching Sequences

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum and this is my first post — thanks in advance for any help or insights!

I'm experiencing what seems to be a bug on my MPC (currently running firmware 3.5). When switching between sequences — whether from the Main page or the Sequencer/Song mode — there's occasionally a short audio dropout at the very start of the new sequence. It doesn't happen every time, which makes it tricky to reproduce, but it's frequent enough to be disruptive during live performance or arrangement.

Interestingly, if the sequence is set to loop, the dropout does not occur at the start of the loop — only when transitioning from one sequence to another manually.

Here are a few more details:

CPU and RAM usage are consistently low (around 20–28%)

The project was originally started on firmware 3.4.x with no issues

These dropouts started appearing later during the project

I updated to 3.5, but the issue persists

Has anyone else encountered this? Could it be project-related, or possibly something introduced in a firmware update?

Appreciate any thoughts, workarounds, or similar experiences!

Check all tracks for any mute or solo automation

Don’t just check the automation lanes, watch the mixer as well, you might find there’s actually some there but the lane doesn’t show it

List edit is a good place to look as well


Having said that, probably strong chance it’s just an audio bug

Actually a good trick is to just join all your sequences up in song mode and then export them to a single sequence, will be easier to tell what’s going on then, chances are one of the sequences has automation and the others don’t and it’s not updating properly when it changes sequence and doing some weird shit

Thanks for the suggestions! I was just about to submit a bug report to Akai when I noticed the second item on their Known Issues list for 3.5: "Click in audio when switching sequence in Song/Next Sequence mode." I guess I'll have to wait for a fix.. Thanks again!

Same problem here on MPC Live II and firmware 3.6. Really bad listening experience when switching sequences live.

Same problem here. MPC Live II, Firmware 3.6. Notable audio dropouts on sequence change. Next sequence is a same track and same drum program, where some of pads just plain 4 or 8 bars of audio stem, even without loop enabled.
