good to know
the rational explanation is probably that InMusic doesn't "want" you to address the MPC as a multi-timbral soundsource and certainly not on the track view
so they didn't bother to check this kind of behavior/use-case, they don't give a xxxx
they didn't even bother to issue a MIDI implementation chart
(probably because they don't know what they are doing, MIDI wise)

have you done what jamos suggested? in the main page, in the inspector part(the part where you have the EYE icon), open the TRACK view (the one with small rectangles), give to each track its own midi channel and enable monitoring

I am super late to see this conversation. However I ran across it because I am experiencing the same issue. Did you ever get it figured all the way out?

I think I have understood.

There were several problems on both sides. Cirklon and MPC.

On the Cirklon side, the instruments must send to the desired midi port in multi mode with the polyspread option set to "off"

On the MPC side my setting was good but there is a slightly strange behavior when I am on the "tracks" page where you see all the tracks. In this view, if I select a track, all the midi tracks of the cirklon are played on it... this is not the case if I am on the main view. weird to me but there is probably a rational explaination ?

In preferences / midi page, I checked all three options. overall, control, monitoring.

I'll keep trying to refine it but for now I'll settle for this.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Do not check “GLOBAL” in the MIDI IN section. Only check “Control” and “Track.”

To play multiple tracks via MIDI simultaneously, set each track’s monitor to “IN” or “MERGE.” Also, since MPC2 has a MIDI note-off bug, I recommend using 3.6. Basically, the MPC can be used as a multitimbral sound module.

Wait, what, I've missed this. Did they finally fix the multi-channel midi in not off bug in 3.6?

Yes. The MIDI note-off bug was finally fixed in MPC 3.6.

Oooh. I've been on the fence about shifting over from MPC 2 (as it looses the next sequence functionality, and looks like I need to reprogram over 200 midi learn links). I wasn't over the moon about having to pay for the Pro Pack, knowing that I can't check it out first, and paying mentally commits me to shifting to MPC3. But Clip launcher looks like it could be a good solution, I'd want the reverb anyway, and the CV Playground is useful to me (and saves me having to surface mount a new capacitor in my Taiga for quicker envelopes).

But fixing the midi bug, that should swing it.

Time to go back to the future.

Upgraded and tested running the same arp pattern to midi 1 and 2, with Jura and Mini D panned either way. Then made one arp par=ttern with a short duration and the other long. Yey, The first didn't cut off the second

Now I have a new bug 'Temporary Storage low'. Raised a ticket with Akai.

Returning back to the original thread, I thought I give this a test, being I've only ever tried it with multiple Plug in synths. I get this to work with Track and with Track and Control. Global as suggested, messes it up.

I have 2 midi tracks coming out of my DAW on channels a and 2, via midi cable into the midi in on the MPC One. I have 2 tracks in the MPC on, one on mid 1 and the other on midi 2, with different kits loaded.
Monitor set to IN, Midi IN set to MPC.

Both kits are playing 2 separate rhythms.

So unless I'm missing something this works. I wondering if this error actually from the cirklon 2
