MPC One+ and TR8S midi

Hi, I have a TR8S connected to my MPC One + through USB cable and audio out on TR8S to audio in on MPC. I would like to record and play single instruments from the TR8S into a seperate MIDI track.

When i have the setting LocalSw on the TR8S On and mute all the instruments but 1, I hear this single instrument on the audio track when my Monitor is In. In the Midi settings, the output port for the TR8S has to be on sync, otherwise I don't hear anything. On the Midi track i can see the levelmeter. I can record the Midi and can see the notes being recorded.

The problem is when I want to hear only the notes and this one instrument . When I play the Midi and unmute another instrument on the TR8S, I hear 2 instruments (bc all the instruments are being sent through channel 10). When I change the LocalSw setting to Off an play the Midi track, I can see the levelmeter going but I have no sound, even though the Monitor is on Merge.

What am I doing wrong or what am I not understanding correcly?

Check the MPC’s MIDI track in the piano roll. Isn’t it recording all of the TR-8S instruments onto a single track?

Also, check whether the TR-8S mutes its MIDI output when you mute a track.

When I record, I mute every instrument but one on the TR8S. I only see this instrument in the piano roll.

When I mute the Midi track, I still hear the instrument rhrough the outputs 1/2, because this is sounding though the audio track. When I mute the audio track, I don't hear anything.

I have read something about the assigment of notes per instrument, but i don't see that in fw 3.6

Anyone else can help me or point me somewhere else?

my advice. When you working with MIDI tracks onto single multichannel device you should separate each voice to specified channel: voice1 - midi ch 1, voice 2 - midi ch2, etc. Usually, midi program change channel is 10, Auto channel(for sending all midi messages when recording) is 16. For instance, in my setup with Elektron Analog 4, I'm using each track with specified midi channel(1-4).

In the reverse direction, I give each MPC track its MIDI channel - so I can switch instrument with a quick shift+key combination to change MIDI channel on whatever keyboard I'm using.
