I use the launch control XL Mk2 (so tempted to get a 3rd before they are no longer available), mainly for faders and knobs, so 36 per bank. the synths are so different. I have 3 banks just for the OPX4. There are 6 envelopes in that (2 of which aren't even normalled to anything), so 3 banks lets me put them all on faders. Then it have it's matrix system of 16 controls. , it's sub mixer of 15 (I just use 8 ) , I don't bother setting up FX, that's 96 controls just assigned to 4 operators there envelopes, mixer and 2 filters Then the Iona doesn't even cover one bank, only has one envelope, just uses about 26 controls. So they are just all too different.

But apart form the led colours (which help you navigate and know which bank you are on) and the each bank. All the banks controls have the CC numbers in sequence, starting 17 (should have chose 20) Bank 1 top row CC 17-24 Next row 25-32, then 33-40 and the faders on 41-48 (the OPX is the exception going up to 112)

So when assigning targets in the midi learn it's becomes intuitive. Set learn on, press plus, move the first knob, press plus, move the second knob repeat for all 36, turn learn off. Then go through and set the targets. The biggest pain in the ... is scrolling through the lest trying to find the targets, the OPX has over 200 in one list. They really need to add sub folders to break these lists up and make them manageable.

They've messed up the midi learn lists in 3.6 though and when you shut down and go bake in they've changed from the order you inputted, They are still correctly assigned, but the order they are listed makes no sense, it used to in 2.5. They've acknowledged the error. But check all your assignments before shutting down.

I take the mindset that each synth can only be used once, like as if I owned the physical synth. That means my template can work whether I used the synth or not. There's no way I'm going through all this to run two OPX4 twice. :-D

I'm hoping they bring out a new synth soon. wondering if part of the reason for releasing one now so is because users would expect it to be bundled when buying the flagship device. So probably March to May.

But yeah, always wait for a sale with their stuff, $149 is silly money for this synth.

Didn’t realize Iona was included with the MPK IV , it’s $99 for the keyboard . Definitely should have been included with the MPC XL…. I’ll stop bitching now lol

It's not included, the MPK comes with the Studio Instrument Collection which contains a selection of presets from various plugins, it's effectively a demo for the full versions. Apparently it has 25 Iona presets included now.
