List of Working/Non Working Class Compliant USB Interfaces

I don't know if it has been mentioned yet, but the Behringer Wing (Compact & Rack) work as an Audio Interface for AKAI MPC LIVE 3 und AKAI FORCEt

Hi everyone, thought it might be useful to post some info regarding a new purchase I made earlier this week.

I picked up a Yamaha MGX16 - the new MG release with dual USB (C) functionality.

After going through the very information sparse user manual as far as setup and routing I can confirm:

MPC Key 61 with USB works (using 32 Channel Mode): playback and recording - no pops or crackles
Apple iPhone 15 Pro works: playback and recording - no pops or crackles

That's both devices utilising playback and recording, simultaneously, agnostic of the source.

Routing is capable - it's possible to route analog signals and both USB I/O's where you please for the most part as there are multiple options for channels and mixes to receive inputs and map outputs.

* I can't seem to get the K61 to utilise Bluetooth Midi - everything connects, Cubasis sees the MC and I can assign the midi device and channel per track (the K61 also shows the iPhone as a Midi device in settings and on a Midi track). I will have to push further into this issue.

I'll be doing some extensive testing tomorrow but for now, things look good.

More testing:

I have routed a Deepmind 12 and UB-Xa into the stereo analog ins of the MGX.

These inputs have been assigned to 2 different mix busses - the K61 sees these MGX USB outputs, each MPC audio track is set to receive incoming signal as per below:

Deepmind 12 - MGX Analog Stereo In 9/10 - route to MG Mix 1 - MG Mix 1 route to MG USB Daw 1/2 - K61 Audio Track 1 Receives MGX USB Daw 1/2.

UB-Xa - MGX Analog Stereo In 11/12 - route to MG Mix 2 - MG Mix 2 route to MG USB Daw 3/4 - K61 Audio Track 2 Receives MGX USB Daw 3/4.

Inputs can be muted so only the return from the K61 is being monitored - or vice versa, or both.

No noticeable lag, pops or crackles - recording these analog signals into the K61 also tests the same.

Sound quality is very good, I have an RME UFX as my DAW interface and the MGX is obviously not on that level but close enough to not notice.

More inputs I will be testing:

Aston Origin JFET Condenser Microphone: connect via XLR into analog 1.
Guitar Pedalboard: Two Notes Opus at the output stage - XLR into analog 2.
TC Helicon VoiceLive GTX: stereo XLR into analog 3 and 4 (will try and setup as a send/return effect).

MGX Omni Outs: there are 8 of these - I will send stereo pairs into the UFX.

For a MPC standalone setup it seems to be working very well - crossing fingers Akai and/or Yamaha don't bork the connections via firmware updates

I was Running an MPC-One into a Audient Evo 16 with an Expert Sleepers ES-8 connected via ADAT, Output audio plays fine but there are some occasional clicks on input. It would probably be manageable except for the fact I was using the ES-8 to send all my MPC audio into Eurorack mixing it then sending it back through the MPC as a final output stage.

Given my MPC is already doing too much looks like i'm also going to try the Yamaha MGX, might keep the old setup to see if it works when I eventually upgrade to a XL when the budget allows.

Recently tried the MOTU 16A with the XL and after setting the A16 to 41.4 or 48kHz this works flawlessly and without dropouts.

Things to watch out: on anything higher than 41.4/48 the MPC will say that the interface is not supported. After switching the sample rate on the A16 I still had to unplug/replug in once. But it's working. Wish that I still could use the Akai interface for interfacing audio with a computer though
